Dear Students,

Welcome to the William de Ferrers Sixth Form.

The William de Ferrers School is a friendly, neighbourhood comprehensive school housed in a community complex. We operate an 'open door' policy to parents and students alike and feel that the welcoming ambience established in the lower years is reflected in the Sixth Form.

Each year, some of our students leave to follow courses at college or enter employment, but many decide to join us to pursue 'AS'/'A' Level studies. We are also pleased every year to welcome students from educational establishments outside of our catchment area.

The Sixth Form is open to all; we simply ask that you are willing to work hard and follow a viable course of study. Our aim is to provide students with opportunities to meet and surpass their expectations. While there is a clear focus on academic achievement, we also aim to provide students with positive experiences by offering them opportunities to make a contribution to the school community, by encouraging their economic independence and by raising awareness of their personal health and safety.

It is important to be realistic when choosing a course. The prospectus will provide you with valuable information. Please read it carefully and discuss it with your parents, Form Tutor, Careers Advisor or myself.

We have, at the William de Ferrers School, much to offer: excellent results; an extensive range of extra curricular activities; experienced subject specialists and supportive tutors.

Should you decide to join us, I can assure you that, provided you are prepared to make a commitment, you will find the experience enjoyable and rewarding.

Yours faithfully,

Pam Glover

Head of Sixth Form
